A juxtaposition is “the act of placing things side by side, especially for the purpose of comparison or contrast.”
I was on my way to Iowa while the sun was setting and I passed by this power plant and saw a potential there for a photograph. So I carefully backed up and pulled to a stop on the side of the highway, grabbed my camera and hustled to where I could get the shot I wanted.
There was a man standing in the approximate neighborhood but he didn’t seem to be bothered by my presence.
As the sun was disappearing rather fast, as sunsets do, I didn’t have time to grab a tripod. Whatever I came up with was going to have to be the result of a low-light hand-held camera.
I got off several shots but this is the only one that came out even close to what I was trying to achieve. A tripod would have made it a better shot, I think, but sometimes you just have to seize the moment. I hope you enjoy it.
Comments are welcome.

I pass by this old neglected farmhouse quite often. I can only imagine what it looked like in its heyday. It must have been a beautiful home with lots of room.
It pains me to see such ruination, but I still see the once-good in it. So I photograph it.
It may be that this will be the last photograph that is taken of it before it collapses, torn down or is razed. But I and the world will still know of it.
Please enjoy it. Comments are welcome. So are likes. Heehee.

The modern family is many things. Herein is love, relaxation, being comfortable in each other’s presence. Yet, here is wandering off in different directions, yet still maintaining a closeness bound by something greater than what technology can provide.
Later on we all went downstairs and watched Johnny Depp’s Lone Ranger, a very unusual look at my childhood hero. Still, it was very entertaining and there were some exciting CGI chase scenes. Here is family.

Lonely and forlorn am I,
No longer used I am,
Empty except for mice
And other little critters;
But still I stand proud.
Though somewhat less
Than once I was,
Still reaching skyward,
Ready to receive
The hay in my loft
That will never come;
But still I stand proud.
Left alone and abandoned,
Still I understand
That time goes on
And so do people,
Yet I must stay;
But still I stand proud.

No, the surprise wasn’t seeing me in front of him with a camera. I had just given him a piece of chocolate candy and it melted in his mouth. That was the surprise—so says his mother. And who am I to argue with a mother?

Spring never comes quickly enough for me. Spring represents many things for me, including baseball, as I am an avid Kansas City Royals fan. Of course, flowers represent for me a new beginning, as do new life of all kinds. Most importantly, it represents the end of a very, very cold winter.
