Weekly Photo Challenge: Grid (Crossed Wires)   12 comments

On my way to Iowa a couple of years ago, just outside the city of Maryville, MO, I was tooling along when I noticed this maze of beams and electrical wires that looked really cool. As it turned out, the sun was just to the point of completely disappearing and I thought I might be able to get a cool pic if I could just get back there in time and line the two up.

So, I slammed on my brakes, pulled over to the side of the road and practically ran back to a road that went into some business property. The sun was about gone and I knew I had to hurry. However, I was able to get off several pictures but this one was the only one that turned out decently. Nevertheless, I love it. It’s one of my favorite pictures. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to comment.

  1. Strangely enough, I have an almost exact match from a very early morning on the Jersey Turnpike. You must be a fellow wanderer.

    • I do like to get out just to take photographs from time to time. In this particular shot, I was on my way to somewhere specific. But I do like to get out and wander. 🙂

  2. nicely framed with the sun 🙂

  3. It’s a lovely shot. Nice take.

  4. Thanks Cris for directing me to your post. You’re right about finding ‘grid’ shots in the city. It didn’t take me long to find shots for this week’s theme. Great photo by the way. I love how you caught the setting sun.

    • You’re welcome, Mama! The shot was a lucky happenstance, being in the right place at the right time, and actually taking time to get out of the car and hightail it to the best location available. I do’t always do that. Sometimes, I think, “Oh, that would have made a nice photo.” So, thank you. And most of the grids out in the boonies where I live are fences and power lines. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  5. Very cool pic!

  6. Wow – great shot.
