Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique (Sunset on Horse)   4 comments

If you’ve never seen a horse sunset, well, here’s one for you—my neighbor’s horse, who happens to be my daughter—the neighbor, not the horse. 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Love (Sister Act)   5 comments

You can’t plan a photograph like this one. In a sense, I suppose you can. You just wait around and around and around for that special moment and then hope you get it.

I got it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Beyond (Peek-a-Boo)   36 comments

Every once in awhile I like to take photographs of spacial things, if that’s the right word—things with lines, angles, that sort of thing.

I pass by this fence every day at least once. It’s always been intriguing to me. One day I brought my camera with me to see what I could do.

What I wound up with seems to fit this week’s photo challenge, so here it is. I hope you like it.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Surprise (Floating Head)   8 comments

I didn’t think much when I took this photograph until later when I went through the batch of which it was part. I had to smile. It was certainly a surprise to see that head floating there with no body. I hope you enjoy it.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Delicate (Tears)   7 comments

I took this photo last January 26 and have been waiting for an opportunity to use it, and so here it is. I hope you enjoy it. (For some reason, it doesn’t come up as sharp as it does on my computer. But you get the picture.) 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons (Leaf Me Alone)   2 comments

I recently read a post about “looking up” with the camera to see what you can see. Well, I did, and this is what I saw. I hope you enjoy this week’s photo challenge.

All these shots were taken at sunset, facing north, east or south. While the “sunset effect” isn’t as noticeable as, say, when the leaves have turned fall colors, it is still there, just not as richly adorned.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections   4 comments

Here are a few photos I took earlier this year while out looking for things to photograph. I hope you like them. Feel free to LIKE them. Hee. Hee.

Here’s a couple of shots of a creek a few miles away from my home. Don’t know why I took them—just playing around.

Here’s a shot of the same creek in the opposite direction. Notice the little dinosaur sticking its head up on the left, central portion of the photograph.

I’m a semi-fan of impressionistic art, depending on who the artist is, such as Money, I mean, Monet, Manet, Renoir, and so forth. Obviously, the impressionism here is in the reflection, not on the land . . . but I knew you knew that.

Personally, I think people went into impressionism because 1) they needed glasses and saw everything blurry and fuzzy; and/or 2) they couldn’t draw faces very well.

Weekly Photo Challenge: BIG Splash of Color   6 comments

©2012 Cris Coleman All Rights Reserved

Here’s the last bit of color before the fall storms came in, blowing much of the leaves off the trees.

In the past thirty-eight years I’ve lived in Utah, SW Iowa and NW Missouri, this is the first time all the fall colors came together. It was awesome.

Spring is still my favorite season for two reasons:
1. Winter has ended; and
2. New life is evident everywhere, and not only in nature. I think people tend to come out of hibernation as well.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Eclipse of the Moon (Silhouette)   14 comments

I was traveling at night and happened to have my camera with me. The moon was high to the west, the direction I was heading. I came upon this old windmill in the close proximity of the moon.

I came to a quick halt and parked to the side of the road out of harm’s way, not that there’s a lot of traffic out here in the boonies at 3:30 a.m. There isn’t.

I took my camera and my tripod, the latter I rarely bring along on my nightly journeys. I walked around and was able to line up the windmill with the moon.

I took several photos and got back in the car, as it was quite cold out. As it turned out, the only picture that turned out was the very last one I took and here it is.

I hope you enjoy it.

It is said that some people don’t know the end from the beginning. That’s not the case with this toadstool, which found its new beginning in the ending—the ending being a cow pie from the end of a cow.

Beauty is where you find it and sometimes you find beauty in places where you would least likely expect to find it. There’s no telling what one may find while wandering around in a field with a camera hung around one’s neck.

Sometimes you get lucky. Other times you make your luck. Such is true for life itself.
