Weekly Photo Challenge: BIG Splash of Color   6 comments

Here’s the last bit of color before the fall storms came in, blowing much of the leaves off the trees.

In the past thirty-eight years I’ve lived in Utah, SW Iowa and NW Missouri, this is the first time all the fall colors came together. It was awesome.

Spring is still my favorite season for two reasons:
1. Winter has ended; and
2. New life is evident everywhere, and not only in nature. I think people tend to come out of hibernation as well.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Eclipse of the Moon (Silhouette)   14 comments

I was traveling at night and happened to have my camera with me. The moon was high to the west, the direction I was heading. I came upon this old windmill in the close proximity of the moon.

I came to a quick halt and parked to the side of the road out of harm’s way, not that there’s a lot of traffic out here in the boonies at 3:30 a.m. There isn’t.

I took my camera and my tripod, the latter I rarely bring along on my nightly journeys. I walked around and was able to line up the windmill with the moon.

I took several photos and got back in the car, as it was quite cold out. As it turned out, the only picture that turned out was the very last one I took and here it is.

I hope you enjoy it.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Rainbow (Big)   9 comments

I’m always looking for that pot of gold. And it looks like I finally found it — big rainbow (and double rainbow, to boot), big pot of gold (two rainbows, two pots?). At least, that’s the way I see it, anyway.

Of course, that pot of gold is on my daughter and her husband’s property, so I guess it belongs to them. So . . . I suppose I’ll just have to keep on looking for my own pot of gold.

Got any lead, anyone?
