Interesting that the eggs look numbered, I wonder why? And the square hole, was that to support a fence pole?
I can answer about the eggs. I found them while wandering around his property while he was working on my car. Well, I may have actually been off his property, as I don’t know where his property ends, as there are no fences. But the numbers are in reference to his purebred chickens, as he has both purebred and mixed breeds. As to the square hole, your idea is as likely to be correct as anything. It’s certainly reasonable. It’s fun to speculate about things one finds while wandering around in the woods. 🙂

Thanks. I try, anyway. Yesterday, on my back from Iowa, I came across an old farm graveyard—not in the traditional sense—but a graveyard of old rusted out farm implements. I got a few snapshots off, but it was so cold, I wasn’t able to get more than three for four shots. I could have gotten a lot more, but my fingers were frozen. And one thing I’ve found—you can’t take good photographs with gloves on. At least I can’t. I’m going to have an abandoned part 2 sometime today. You’re welcome to take a peek. 🙂

Thanks. I appreciate that. I’ve wondered how old that stone is. I found it down near a stream close to a friend’s property, along with the eggshells, which once belonged to my friend but now lies abandoned. 🙂

Yes, they were numbered eggshells. My friend numbers them because, first of all, he has a lot of chickens; secondly, because he raises some purebreds.
So he wants to keep those separate. And thanks for dropping by.

Yes, I need to do more close-up photography. Generally, I’m more scenic oriented. I sometimes forget that a lot of people like these kinds of shots.
